Who we are

Halal Near Me is a directory of halal businesses in the UK, and a product of AKZMDigital, which is the data controller for the information described in this notice. If you have a question about this notice or your data, email hello@halalnearme.co.uk.

What we collect and why

  • Account email and password: to sign you in. Necessary to provide the account you've asked for (contract).
  • Claim evidence: your name, phone number, role at the business, and any documents you upload, to verify you're entitled to manage a listing. Used because we have a legitimate interest in confirming ownership before handing over control of a public listing.
  • Content you submit: reviews, reports and edits, to publish and act on what you've told us (contract).
  • Saved listings: kept in your browser's local storage, not on our servers, unless you're signed in.

What we don't do

  • We don't sell your data.
  • We don't run third-party advertising.
  • We don't use analytics cookies.

Where data lives

We store data with Supabase, acting as our data processor, on infrastructure in the EU/UK region.

Business listing data

Most listing details come from Google's public business data. Every listing states where its information comes from. If you run a sole-trader business listed here and want something corrected or removed, email us and we'll deal with it directly.

Cookies

We only use an essential cookie to keep you signed in. No analytics or advertising cookies, so no cookie banner is needed.

Retention

  • Account data: kept until you delete your account.
  • Claim evidence: kept until the claim is decided, plus a short period for audit.
  • Reviews: kept for as long as they're published.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask to access, correct, delete or export your data, or object to how we use it. Email hello@halalnearme.co.uk and we'll respond. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk.

Changes

We'll update this notice as the service changes, and update the date at the top when we do.

This notice is written in plain English on a standard template; it is not legal advice about your own obligations.
